THERE IS A
NEW LADYFEST EMAIL LIST FOR RIDE and ACCOMODATION SHARING!
LOTS OF PEOPLE
HAVE BEEN WRITING ASKING US TO HOOK THEM UP WITH OTHER LADYFEST-BOUND
FOLKS, SO WE MADE THIS LIST FOR YOU TO FIND EACH OTHER.
SUBSCRIBE
SAFETY
STUFF! IMPORTANT
While this
list is provided by Ladyfest, we may or may not know the people
posting on it. Ladyfest is in no way liable for situations and
arrangements resulting from this list.
Here are
some tips for avoiding scary strangers.
** Try to make more than e-mail contact with your potential ride
or house host.
** Ask your questions, like who are they, and why are they offering
this ride or sleeping place. You can ask indirectly also by paying
attention to their response when you say "Thanks so much for offering
to do this."
** If your staying overnight in a strange house, get the phone
number and address and give it to a friend. Better yet, try to
bring a friend with you.
**** When talking with your potential host/ride, PAY ATTENTION
TO YOUR GUT INSTINCTS. If something feels funny or wierd,
it probably is. We're taught not to listen to our own intution.
But intution can be one of your greatest safety meters.

ABOUT
OLYMPIA
The hospitality
committee is working on getting together all the info you need while
in Olympia, and will assemble it into fliers that will be available
at the festival. Here is information on getting to Olympia and accomodations
once you're here. If you plan to stay in a hotel, we STRONGLY urge you
to reserve a room ahead of time, as it gets very crowded during the
summer!
We're working on
a message board for you to connect with other ladyfest-bound people
to share rides/accomodations with, which should be up within a week
(6/5/00).

Asked Questions:
When are you
selling passes? Can I buy them online? How much do they cost? Where
can I buy them?
Passes are on sale NOW, both online and through the mail. Full passes
cost $55, partial passes are $30 through the mail. Donation passes are
also available. See BUY PASSES page for
more details.
Will press passess
be available?
No.
When will the
schedule be posted?
The schedule is up here.
What does 'lady'
mean? Are transgendered ladies welcome?
Yes! Events listed as "ladies only" are open to all women,
including women who identify as men, and ladies who were born gentlemen.
This also applies to performing at ladyfest. Transgendered women are
welcome to lead workshops, play music, show art, do performance art,
etc.
When is ladyfest?
Who is playing? etc.
see NEWS
How can I get
my band to play, my art shown, my workshop idea become reality, my film
screened, my etc.?
All events are already scheduled....
What kinds of
bands/music will be featured?
We are aiming for a wide variety of music. There will be several venues
besides the main stage, and there will be an open mic + after hours
parties.
How do I volunteer?
See the volunteer page.
Will Childcare
be available?
No, although we are trying to put together some info on childcare resources
in the area.
Are boys allowed
to play/go/volunteer?
GENTLEMEN are definitely invited to volunteer and attend the event.
Some bands with guys will play, though we are trying to focus on female
musicians. There will be no all-male bands. Some (probably not all)
workshops or other TBA events will be ladies-only, because our intention
is to offer workshops in an environment that is as comfortable for women
as possible, and they will be designed with women in mind.
MAIN MUSIC EVENTS and FILMS/ART EXHIBITS WILL BE OPEN TO EVERYONE.
Will there be
sleeping accomodations/meals provided?
NO. Although we will try to help you find these things. See 'about olympia'
area above.

tax-deductible?
YES!! A Donation form is available now
on our site and through the mail. Our address is on the home page if
you'd like to request one. Checks and money orders must be made out
to "OW-LADYFEST" for us to cash them. Large donations will
be noted in the program, more details are outlined on the donation form.
Can I videotape,
audio tape, photograph LADYFEST?
This will be decided on a band by band or show by show basis. More info
to come.
What is 'Ladies
We Like' about?
There are tons of ladies who have made important contributions to art,
music, literature, politics, science, our lives (moms!), etc. and there's
no way we could honor them all with performance/discussion/exhibit at
ladyfest, so we made a place here to do so. The inspiration section
is open to anyone. Please take time to write something about your entry
that will be meaningful to visitors to the ladyfest site. Please do
not try to email pictures as attachments!! Send me a link to where the
picture is located on the web.
ie. "*~*~*~*@*!~ommigod!!! (band name here)
rULEz*~@~~*@*~" is not what we have in mind. And please
don't feel limited by the categories we've created, add your own! Try
to include links so we can find out more about your entry if you know
of any.
