Dorothy Day

In the early 1930's Dorothy Day founded the Catholic Worker Movement with Peter Maurin. Their goal is to end poverty through Hospitality Projects (there are currently 130 of these communities in existance). "The Catholic Worker" was a pacifist paper she and Maurin printed and distributed during WW2. What made her so extraordinary was the way she fused her ardent Catholic beliefs into social action and remained on good terms with the Church while protesting their action during the war.
